MAINE NAPUS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM RULES
Scholarships
The scholarships will be named for past Maine NAPUS
members who made a significant contribution to Maine NAPUS and/or their
fellow Postmasters. The three scholarships will be called the
Steve Woodard Memorial Scholarship, the Al Black Memorial Scholarship,
and the Ellie Ring Burden Memorial Scholarship.
Scholarship Committee
The Committee consists of four members, three from
the education field and the fourth being an active NAPUS member who
will serve as its chairman. The chairman shall receive and
coordinate all applications, make copies of pertinent information, and
distribute same to all members of the Committee. At all meetings
of the Committee, the chairman shall answer any questions and give any
explanations necessary, but shall not participate in the selection
process. After the winners are selected, the names shall be
submitted to the chairman who will notify the recipients and the
unsuccessful candidates.
Criteria
There are to be no boundaries for applicants.
Recipients are to be selected on the basis of academic achievement,
leadership, school and community participation. The scholarship
money will be sent to the recipients after successful completion of the
first semester, to be used for college expenses.
Eligibility
You must be the child, stepchild, or grandchild of
an active NAPUS Postmaster or Retired Postmaster member. Two
scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school seniors.
One scholarship will be awarded to a continuing college student.

Procedure
There will be three $500 scholarships awarded
annually to the top applicants in their category. Funding will
come from the Maine NAPUS Scholarship account. All proceeds in
the scholarship account shall be audited annually and reported on at
the general business session at the state convention. Mail
completed applications with all required documentation attached no
later than April 30, 2011 to:

INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS OR FAILURE TO SUBMIT ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION
BY THE DEADLINE WILL AUTOMATICALLY DISQUALIFY AN APPLICANT FROM
RECEIVING A SCHOLARSHIP.
